Understanding Tannat
Tannat is a signature grape of Uruguay and an important part of Madiran in southwestern France. Extraction, blending and maturation can soften or emphasise its grip. Modern bottlings range from approachable dark-fruited wines to dense examples suited to cellaring. Concentration is most rewarding when freshness and ripe tannin remain in balance.
