Understanding Slivovitz
Slivovitz is a family of plum spirits with many regional spellings, including slivovica and šljivovica. Fermented plums are distilled, then the spirit may be rested without wood or aged in cask. Clear and amber examples therefore offer different reference points. Some Balkan plum spirits also sit within the wider rakia tradition.
