Understanding Albariño & Alvarinho
Albariño is known as Alvarinho in Portugal. Rías Baixas and the Monção e Melgaço area of Vinho Verde offer important reference points. Wines are often fresh and aromatic, but lees ageing and other cellar choices can add breadth. Not every Vinho Verde is made from Alvarinho; read the grape and region together.
