Understanding Sémillon
Sémillon helps shape Bordeaux's dry whites and sweet wines, often alongside Sauvignon Blanc. Australia's Hunter Valley offers a different reference: restrained young wines that can develop toast and honeyed notes with age. Those aromas need not come from oak. Identify the style before expecting richness, sweetness or early drinking.
