Understanding Viognier
Viognier can be intensely fragrant, with apricot, peach and blossom over a rounded palate. Condrieu provides an important northern Rhône reference, while other regions offer a broad range of styles. Acidity is often less prominent than in Sauvignon Blanc, making freshness, alcohol and texture especially useful points of comparison.
